What PageDove knows about you, why it knows it, and how to get it back or get rid of it.
This is a draft. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and the contracting details are not filled in yet, so it is not in force.

What is collected
Your email address, so you can sign in and be told about your account. There is no password, so none is stored.
What you make: your manuscript, your photographs, your book's details, and the files PageDove lays out from them.
How you read: which book you are in, where you got to, your bookmarks, your highlights and notes, and how you like the type set. This is what lets a book open where you left it on another device.
What you bought: which plan you are on, which books you hold, and a record of each order. Card numbers are never seen or stored by PageDove.
Ordinary technical records a web service keeps in order to run and to stay secure.
Why
To give you the service you asked for: to keep your book, lay it out, show it to the people you shared it with, and keep your place in it.
To take payment and to meet the record-keeping the law requires of a business that takes payment.
To keep accounts safe, and to find and stop abuse.
PageDove does not sell your personal information, and does not use your manuscript to advertise to you.
Who else sees it
Stripe processes payments. Card details go to Stripe directly and never reach PageDove. Stripe tells PageDove that a payment succeeded, for how much, and against which order.
Supabase stores the database and the private files your work lives in. Railway runs the services. Google handles sign-in if you choose that way in.
Email you receive from PageDove is sent through its own email gateway.
Each of these does one job and is given only what that job needs. None of them is given your work to use for their own purposes.
PageDove hands information to anybody else only where the law requires it.
Your writing is not training data
PageDove has AI features you can choose to use, such as adapting a book for younger readers or translating it. They run only on the book you point them at, only when you ask.
Your manuscript is not used to train anybody's model, PageDove's or anyone else's.
Sharing a book
When you share a book with family, the people holding that link can read it and nothing else. They cannot see your other books, your drafts, or your account.
A link can be taken back at any time, and it stops working immediately.
A reader's own place in a book is theirs. An author cannot see how far a reader has got.
How long it is kept
Your work is kept for as long as your account has it. Delete a book and it goes.
A trial book that is not kept is deleted a day after the trial ends, and you are warned twice before that happens.
Records of payment are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is longer than an account may last.
What you can ask for
A copy of everything: PageDove can export your books and your account's data at any time, in a form you can take elsewhere.
A correction, if something is wrong.
Deletion of your account and your work, subject to the payment records the law makes PageDove keep.
Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to some processing, or to complain to your data protection authority.
